Family notes for Winright ADKINS and Elizabeth BLACKBURN Daniels p.43.
I originally thought that we should view some of the dates and relationships of this
family with caution. To have given birth to Tennessee in 1889, her mother Elizabeth
would probably have been born after 1850, which would have made her at least 25
years younger than Winright. And he would have been at least 63 when he begat
Tennessee, not to mention 68 when he begat Lucy. Not impossible, but worth
questioning. However, there is a report in The Southwestern Reporter,
volumes 187-188, that describes a legal case between members of the family and this
describes the family situation and relationship very well, and shows that the dates,
and particularly, wives and children of Winright are as shown above. My thanks to
Alicia Hershock for researching this. [Webmaster] [120],[121]
Notes for Winright ADKINS Winright was said to have shot and killed Zachariah PHILLIPS Jnr (who
fought in the Civil War as a Confederate), his cousin Clarinda ADKINS'
husband. [55]
