GREAT NEWS! – NEW ENGINE FITTED

Following the breakdown at the end of last season a new engine, with ancilliaries, has been installed. Reports, from both crew and users, state that the engine gives a quieter trip with reduced vibrations. This has been achieved with the aid of grants and donations from ‘Awards for All’; Manchester Airport Community Trust Fund; Bernard Sunley Foundation; Eastern Cheshire Primary Care Trust; plus individual donations.

Shown below is the installation of the engine by Jim Ling, Marine Engineer; with Brian Bowker (Bowker Marine Services) watching; at the North Cheshire Cruising Club, High Lane.

This now enables us to continue providing trips for the disabled (including up to 4 wheelchairs) and elderly groups, from throughout Cheshire and Greater Manchester on the Macclesfield canal, usually of 4 hours duration (full details). For information on availability on any day, and a booking form, please contact 01625-426803 on Tuesday to Friday between 10.00am and 3.00pm.

We are always on the look out for volunteers to assist us in any capacity, such as crewing, committee or fund raising. Our summer fund raising event is a collection outside Tesco’s store, Hibel Road, Macclesfield on the 7 th & 8 th July. Anyone wishing to assist would be welcome, please contact any committee member or Lynette Cookson on 01625-426853.
