The name of SPURRIER suggests another tentative local connection. Was Miss SPURRIER a member of the family of lawyer William SPURRIER of Blood Hall? SPURRIER was well known to the local gentry and along with his partner Clement INGLEBY was for a time the legal representative to the GALTONs. Hubert GALTON's wife Mary mentions a Miss SPURRIER in a letter to her brother-in-law Howard GALTON.
