Notes for Norma MEADE On page 28 Daniels lists Norma MEADE married to Jonah ADKINS and having two children, Glema Faye and Charlene. On page 150 he lists Nora MEADE married to Elvie ADKINS and having four children, Violet Mae, Joyce, Ishmael Lee, and Sharlene. Norma and Nora are very similar names and although having no date of birth noted, they are clearly contemporary both being born probably around 1917. However, children Charlene and Sharlene are listed with the same birth date, 2-15-1947. I therefore suspect that Norma and Nora are actually the same person. This leaves us with the problem of their marriage partners - Jonah ADKINS and Elvie ADKINS. Did Norma/Nora have two marriages? If so, which husband is the father of her children? Or which children belong to which father? No date is given for marriage to Jonah, but marriage to Elvie is listed as 12-27-1937; this is earlier than the dates of birth given for the two children listed for Jonah. Further, two of the children, listed under different marriages, were born in the same year, 1942. All very confusing. On the database here I am listing two marriages for Norma/Nora and allocating all the children to Elvie because they were all born after that marriage. [Webmaster]
