Family notes for John FIELD and Anne WOOLLASTON Two children named John, born a year apart. This suggests that the first child died
in infancy, or possibly they are one child where there is doubt about the year of
birth. [Webmaster]
Notes for John FIELD Of Jerrings Hall, Shirley, Solihull, Warwickshire (now West Midlands), UK SP121762. John was a Churchwarden in 1715, 1716 (not clear which church).
There is an excellent history of Jerrings Hall written by Mary Singer and attached to Poole FIELD on Ancestry. In summary the land in the area north of Tanworth was being divided up and brought into agricultural use in the late 13thC. One of the tenants was Roger Gerin. Over the centuries the property became known as Geryn′s, Gerren′s, Jerren′s, and Jerring′s. In modern times the apostrophe has been dropped leaving us with Jerrings Hall. [Webmaster]
