Family notes for James ADKINS and Nancy BISHOP Daniels, p.172.
James was not listed in any of the marriage bonds located in Floyd County, KY, indicating a marriage in Virginia or in another state. He was in Kentucky as early as 1815. [55]
James appears in the 1850 Pike County census records, with his age being shown as 65 and his wife, Nancy, as 55. James′s descendants are shown [in this database] based on deeds and some available marriage records. Pike County Deed Book G, page 75 lists their relatives, most of which are his children. The Susannah mentioned in this deed, was probably a widowed sister, as she was living next to him in the 1850 Pike County census records. Nearby is a Fleming ADKINS and his wife, Jenny, who could very well be a brother. The relationship of James to the other ADKINS families in Pike County has not been proven or established at this point [1986]. It is likely that Susannah was a sister and Fleming a brother, all living in close proximity in 1850. [55]
Notes for Nancy BISHOP Nancy′s family name, BISHOP, is a probability rather than a certainty. [55]
