Notes for Poole FIELD Listed in Tanworth-in-Arden parish register burial record as ffeylde - the lower case double ′f′ being an Old English style, originating I believe from French.
Of Tanworth-in-Arden. Thought to be the first member of the family to own Jerrings Hall, located between Shirley and Earlswood, UK SP121763, ///void.moment.snacks.
There is an excellent history of Jerrings Hall written by Mary Singer and attached to Poole FIELD on Ancestry. In summary the land in the area north of Tanworth was being divided up and brought into agricultural use in the late 13thC. One of the tenants was Roger Gerin. Over the centuries the property became known as Geryn′s, Gerren′s, Jerren′s, and Jerring′s. In modern times the apostrophe has been dropped leaving us with Jerrings Hall. [Webmaster]
