His two wives were sisters. The second marriage was held in Neuchatel, Switzerland because it was illegal in UK. Law revoked in 1907.

He was also second cousin to both his wives. [8],[95]

Together with his brothers, George Caleb and Henry, Francis was heavily involved in his father's soap factory at Smethwick, Birmingham.
