Family notes for Elisha ADKINS Jnr and Louvenia SOWARDS Daniels, p.158.
We did not locate a marriage license for Elisha and Louvenia in Pike County or surrounding areas. In Pike County Historical Paper #2, in the marriage records on page 35, Elisha ADKINS married Serena MAY and is shown as a duplicate. We believe this to be an error and one of the marriages listed should have been Elisha ADKINS Jnr and Louvenia SOWARDS. It is probable that both of these marriages did occur in the year 1848, as Mary C ADKINS, first born of Elisha and Louvenia, was born in the year 1849. In the 1860 Pike County census records, Elisha Jnr and Louvenia are shown on page 110, family #939, with his brother, Daniel, living between him and his father, Elisha Snr. It is likely that Elisha Jnr and Louvenia SOWARDS did move from the area prior to 1870 as no records of him appear in Pike County or surrounding areas after the year 1860, although his father appears later in Floyd County, KY. The noted marriage between Elisha ADKINS and Serena MAY is actually a different family altogether and can be found here. [Webmaster]
