Family notes for Thomas ADKINS and Alice BLACKBURN Daniels, p.164.
Daniels′ listings show some confusion. King ADKINS b.1877 is shown on p.46 and married to Rosa ADKINS, daughter of Squire and Sarah ANDERSON ADKINS, on 7-4-1893. On p.163 King S ADKINS b.1875 is listed as having married the same lady, Rosa ADKINS, daughter of Squire and Sarah ANDERSON ADKINS, on 9-4-1893, and yet again on p.173. Though the details are not identical they are very similar, and I conclude that the three records are of the same people. But that′s not the end of the problem. On p.173 Rosa is shown as being born in 1843, just three years after her supposed father-in-law Daniel ADKINS. It seems there may be a generational problem here. In the earlier record, King is shown having two marriages and eight children. In the later record, just one marriage and six children. Some of the children′s names are the same in each record, some are not. In some cases the names are different but their marriages are the same! It′s very hard to know how to record these families because so much of the information is clearly wrong - I just don′t know which! So I am adding this note to each of two records for King ADKINS and his children and recording them as two separate streams even though some records will be duplicated. [Webmaster]
As there are problems with Thomas ADKINS′ parents records, so there are problems with Thomas and wife Alice BLACKBURN. They are first noted on Daniels page 47, with Thomas a son of King ADKINS and Nancy Elizabeth ADKINS. They are later noted on p.164 with Thomas a son of King S ADKINS and Rosa ADKINS. I have not been able to deduce which record is correct; this entire family line, including daughter Roma ADKINS and her husband Charles BIRCHFIELD, appears to have serious problems in its records.
