Family notes for William ADKINS and Elizabeth 'Betsy' THACKER Daniels, p.193.
Elizabeth ′Betsy′ THACKER is a very specific name appearing as the wife of William ADKINS on p.193. The name, in full, also occurs in Daniels′ listings on p.9 as the wife of Henry ADKINS. The marriage dates are also close together, 1805 on p.193 and 1824 on p.9. One has to wonder if these two instances are actually the same person. There is no birth date for either instance, and only a suggested death decade on p.9. Daniels′ record also shows that both families lived on Greasy Creek, and would therefore have lived there at the same time. Just to complicate matters further, on p.202 there is mention of John ′Creek′ THACKER (from Greasy Creek?) a son of Joseph and Elizabeth ′Betty′ JONES THACKER marrying into the same ADKINS family in 1836. I am very much inclined to think that these Betsys and Betty are all the same person, but because it is impossible to determine the certain truth from the available data, I have included three records in the database. Notes for William ADKINS William was listed in the 1823 Pike County Tax List but it is believed that he came to Kentucky (Floyd County) as early as 1810. He settled and raised his family on Greasy Creek in Pike County, KY, and spent the remainder of his life there. [55]
