Notes for John ADKINS Jnr John Jnr. spent a great deal of his time as a youngster living with his uncle, Dr.
Moses ADKINS. He helped to operate the feed store while going to school, both
grade and high school. John later went to the University of Louisville School of
Dentistry, as his father had before him. He practiced dentistry in Pikeville KY
for several years before a stroke resulted in blindness, a great tragedy.
Dr. John was a Kentucky State Representative and later went into business for
himself, organizing and operating a successful dental supply business.
'Dr. John' as he was affectionately known by many of his friends and relatives,
and his wife, Gertrude, are now [mid 1980s] retired and live at Sabastian FL. He
was instrumental in organizing the annual Adkins family reunions held in the
Breaks Park in Elkhorn City KY. [55]
