Notes for Theodore CHRISTOPHERS Theodore Christophers, a solicitor, was well known as the coroner for South Warwickshire. He was born in Monmouth on 1 December 1854 at the height of the Crimean War. He was the coroner in the famous Edgehill motor fatality of 1899. At the time of the inquest he was aged forty five and a partner in a law firm established some hundred years earlier, then known as Couchman & Christophers, of Henley-in-Arden. Theodore Christophers died at the early age of fifty six at Henley-in-Arden on 23 September 1911, but his name was preserved in the firm's later title of Christophers & Lodder until the late nineteen twenties or early thirties. By 1932 the firm was known as G F Lodder and Co, later as G F Lodder & Sons, and to this day (2022) still operates - now under the name of Lodders Solicitors LLP. [Alan Sharkey, who provided this information, was, in 2009, preparing a book about the Edgehill accident and Theodore Christophers' part in the aftermath, but appears not to have been published.]
